Total Controls, Inc. provides custom robotics for machine vision solutions and a variety of other applications to our customers throughout the United States.

Our comprehensive knowledge of industrial robotics and vision allows us to move beyond the typical limitations of PLC integration by utilizing our skills in PC development. This allows us to provide “Total Control” from manufacturing to trace-ability.

Through the use of our proprietary software, VisionSoft3D, we also offer standard robotic metrology (measurement) and machine vision systems with full trace-ability. Designed for fast setup and configuration, VisionSoft provides seamless integration of Robotics, Vision, Trace-ability Database, and User Interfacing.

A Walk down Memory Lane

Over the fifteen (plus) years, Total Controls, Inc. has grown up a bit. (In more ways than one.)

Although we draw from our pool of part-time and short-term assignment contract personnel (engineering and technical assistance), the main contributors for the company have always been family.

Over the years, we have grown in educations, knowledge, and skills.  Each of our sons now play a vital role in the success of the company.  Of course, Dad is the lead.

COMPANY HISTORY

2003

Incorporation

Total Controls incorporated in January of 2003. Initially, the primary goal of the company was to provide controls integration services to surrounding manufacturing facilities. This was a “one man” operation.
2009

VisionSoft Development

Total Controls, Inc. began development of the original VisionSoft. This was an R&D project started by Steve Baldwin after a customer requested a quote for a Vision system capable of performing a large number of inspections with several fixed cameras. The old PLC based system was not easily modified and very limited in it’s capabilities.
2010

1st VisionSoft Sale

With various updates and improvements, VisionSoft became the primary product for Total Controls, Inc. contributing over $2M in system sales over the next three years.
2016

VisionSoft3D Concept

After being approached by a customer who very much liked the original VisionSoft, Steve was requested to develop a similar system using robotics. On top of that, the customer wanted the system to perform metrology inspections with laser technology.

After evaluating options for sensors, a concept and foundation for features was determined and Total Controls, Inc. set to work developing the new software we sale today.

2017

VisionSoft3D Debuted

After months of testing and the sale and Installation of systems, Total Controls, Inc. presented VisionSoft3D to an international audience at FabTech 2017.
2018

VisionSoft2D Debuted

VisionSoft3D was designed to be flexible using various robots and sensors. This flexibility soon led to the need for categorizing the functionality of the software. From this, VisionSoft2D and VisionSoft1D were formed. VisionSoft2D was installed in it’s first in-line inspection cell for the first time.
